    I see this in the Activity Monitor. Everything seems to work fine though.
    So just curious, is it supposed to be "not responding"?

    yes - it has no interaction with the GUI and so seems to do *nothing* i.e. is not responding ... UNIX-speak ... there are more processes in your list doing so
