  • Mac/Logic: Possible bug in the ADSR

I don't know if this is intended, but I doubt it.

If I play a legato instrument, e.g. appasionata cellos, the ADSR envelope works as I set it to, on the first note I play, and on all notes that are not triggering a legato sample. But if I play a C, then jump to G, triggering the interval, the envelope is changed - it gets prolonged. E.g. if I want a semi-slow attack and then immediately wants the sustain to fall to 31, there is a second of delay where the sample is just playing at full volume, before decaying to the sustain volume.

  • I'm having a similar problem -- upon changing intervals or patches, the first notes in certain passages play softer upon the attack and then fade up to the proper volume during the sustain portion of the note. The second notes and those notes that follow all play as expected.

In my case the volumes are starting softer than is indicated. I've checked my controllers and this happens even when they are disabled. I can't track down the source of the problem at all. I'm using a Mac 2.5 Dual PPC, 8GB RAM, OS 10.4.8.

  • cm (or someone else), do you have a comment or could you note this for fixing, unless it is what it is intended to be like? This is pretty important for me to create some nice legato patches I have been fiddling around with [[;)]]

  • VIENNA ADSR:

    1)

needs to have DEFINABLE curves for fade-in (linear does NOT cut it.......we need equal-power curve fade in)

    2)

fade-in time needs to be modulatable by ANY controller (velocity, mod-wheel, etc)

  • Thewre is NOTHING more unmusical sounding than a "linear fade-in" that is NOT how musicians ramp-up volume when they perform .........

Equal Power fade-ins sound way more musical......

  • I have to agree on this, the ADSR could really use definable curves, as they sound pretty stiff and unrealistic as they are right now. Especially the attack is hard to get to sound good.
