  • Lost License after upgrading License Control Center

I upgraded to the latest Syncrosoft License Control Center and now my Solo Strings license has disappeared. Has anyone else had this problem?

I can't reactivate the license with my old activation code, because it's good for only one use. I've contacted VSL for a new code, but so far nothing.

Incidentally, thank you, Christian, for sending me the activation for the Level 2 demo. If you can help get my Solo Strings license reactivated, I would greatly appreciate it.

  • AFAIK maya takes care on this - i'd assume the license is still there on your ViennaKey but some component in your machine can't see it (so it would have no effect sending you another code)

i'd strictly recommend to reboot before and after upgrading something related to licenses - unfortunately running processes can screw up things very well, this is like running logic while upgrading.

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Thanks, Christian. I wasn't running anything other than an email program and web browser at the time, so I don't understand what could have happened.

So I have Solo Strings, which I am unable to use. This is rather unproductive, to say the least.

  • sorry to hear about your troubles ...
is maya already in contact with you? and: does the license control center see the licenses? as far as i can see this is not a ViennaKey ... what about the other application, does it start?

  • I've just sent a PM to Maya. I'm sure I'll hear back soon.

The Solo Strings license is the only one on the key (incidentally, a Steinberg key). I have no other Syncrosoft key, so I'm unable to determine if this problem is isolated to this key or just the VSL license.

  • I thought I would write a follow up for anyone who came upon this posting because they're having a problem similar to mine.

Please note that I am on a Mac G5 using OS 10.4.8. I don't know if any of this is relevant to Mac users with different machines or OS.

Before upgrading to a newer LCC, follow these steps, which Maya provided to me, and follow them EXACTLY. Doing so made all the difference for me.

    1. Restart your computer

    2. Find and erase the following receipts from your
    Library folder:

    /Library/Receipts/LCC.pkg
    /Library/Receipts/NOS.pkg
    /Library/Receipts/POS.pkg
    /Library/Receipts/SyncrosoftLicenseControl.pkg

    3. Empty Trash and restart your computer.

    3. Then please download v.5.2.6.2 from:

    http://www.syncrosoft.com/License_Control_Center-78-11.html

    4. Run the installer and restart your computer again.

    5. Open LCC to see if your license shows up properly.

That should do it. And if it doesn't, the excellent support at VSL should be able to help you out. Maya and Christian were a great help to me.
