  • Custom Data folder grayed out

So I went to save a custom matrix and then a preset, but the "Save" button was grayed out when I tried to save either the matrix or the preset to the Vienna Instruments Custom Data folder (in my Home folder). VI allowed me to save to a different folder, but then when I tried to load either the preset or the matrix, THEY were grayed out. I'm using the AU plug-in version hosted by Plogue Bidule (but it happened in the Standalone version too). Although I'm still in my demo period, I have downloaded the permanent Standard (Level 1) licenses; however, this problem happened even when the Preset did not contain Level 2 data.

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I've been looking through the manual and this forum and I can't find it.

    Thanks,
    Peter

  • OK, here's an update. I selected the Vienna Instruments Custom Data folder in my Home folder and "got info." I noticed that the "Owner" was "system" and that the folder had "Read Only" status. I changed the ownership to my User name; the permissions changed to "Read And Write". Now I can save and load custom matrices and presets. So here are two questions:

    1. Was this an OK thing to do, or does VI need the "owner" of this folder to be "system" for some reason?

    2. While my custom matrix showed up in the VI window at the bottom of the list of matrices, I could only load my custom preset from the file menu (i.e., the preset did not show up in the list of available presets in the VI window). Is that as it should be?

    Thanks,
    Peter
