  • Not a quibble, but... (instruments in Pro Ed)

    Herb,

please don't take this as a criticism - I would never deign to point an accusatory finger at this library - it's too big and awesome to fault. But having said that,

    where are our anvils?

    [[;)]]

the docs in the first edition listed (promised?) a bunch of percussion that we were to expect in the pro edition, and anvils were certainly there...

I did, however, notice the inclusion of railway rails (not mentioned in the 1st ed docs) - are these a replacement? Or have anvils been put back for the symphonic edition?

    Peter
    (I live to nitpick...)

PS: will we be having any more stories about your adventures in sampling? maybe by Christmas?

  • Sorry, Peter

    the rails are the anvils.
In orchestras anvils are always surrogates (like the whip).
This rails are much more authentic then the common surrogates.

    A little story:

The Radio Symphonie Orchestra introduced these rails for a a special piece.
After the world prmiere the guy who had to place the instruments on the concert stage went on strike and said, that he won't carry these rails once again, they are too heavy.

So our sampling session was the second (and last) performance with these instruments - I personally carried the large sized rails. [[:|]]

    best wishes
    Herb

  • [[:D]] we use anvils over here in Dublin [[:D]] [[;)]] big heavy things they are too

  • [[:)]]

Heavy! there are some percussion houses over here (UK) that stock anvils and rails, but prefer to hire out lengths of builders' scaffolding because of their weight advantage!

thanks for the confirmation, Herb - as i said before, I look forward to using these new sets, but at the minute I'm still copying the DVDs! (last disk - phew...)

    peter

hope your back's okay from all the heavy lifting [[:|]]

remember: always bend from the knees and keep your back straight... never bend your back when doing any heavy lifting... [[:)]]
