    Dear All

I will be getting the symphonic cube in the near future and would appeciate some feedback on the adequacy of my present setup for running the new vienna instruments.

    My system is as follows:

    Computer 1

    Mac G5 Quad 2.5 GHz
    4 GB Ram
    OS 10.4.8
    Motu 828 Mk II Soundcard
    Altiverb 5.4
    Logic 7.2.3
    Cubase SX3 3.1
2 Internal Baracuda 400GB Hard Drives
1 External Glyph 500GB Hard Drive
VSL Pro Edition Complete Package EXS 24

    Computer 2

    Mac G4 733MHz
    OS 10.3.9
    Midiman 1010 Soundcard
    2 Internal 40GB Hard Drives
    Cubase SX3

I would use the first computer for the VI's and the second to help with postproduction using Logics node function

    Do I need more RAM?
Do I need another software application to run vsl or will using it with logic's AU be ok?
How many instances of VI could I run with the above system?
Does the complete symphonic cube come with a key or will I have purchase this as well?

Thanks for any help in answering the above questions.

    Regards

    Hi Mirabile,

here is a test result with a Quad G5 and VI.
The test is a little out of date, since Logic Pro 7.2.3 is able now to make use of all 4 CPU cores. So the performance you can exspect from your system will presumably be even better:

Processor: G5 PPC 2 x Dual Core 2,5 GHz (Quad)
    Ram: 4,5 GB
    OS 10.4.5
    Data storage: Firewire 400
    Host application: Logic 7.2
    Plugin: VI v.1.0.5.2
    Soundcard: Digidesign HW (Digi 002)

Latency at 512 Samples (12 ms) RAM usage 2.54 GB
Maximum Vienna Instrument instances: 34 (CPU 95%)
    Maximum Samples loaded: 24.530
Maximum polyphony: 476 stereo voices / (CPU 35 % Harddisk limit exceeded)

The complete package (Symphonic Cube) comes with a Vienna Key.
