    Hi there,

    I've just installed, quite successfully it seemed, the Vienna Instruments Chamber Strings. However when I try to load up either the AU or stand alone panel /player .. I can't see any actual content in it. Strangely enough I can see licenses for the entire VI library, Woods, Brass, Perc, Strings .. even though I only registered Chamber strings.

    The standalone player encounters an error on start up:

    "Audio device is busy or not functioning at given paramters."

    Well ther's only one audio driver that I have "Built In Audio" .. however the sample rate will not show up which suggests some kind of sync problem .. I have no optical devices linked to my system.

    I think my problem my lie with the directory manager, which doesn't seem to be entering any presets for me.

    And installation was going so well [:P] :sigh:

    Anyways, if someone could help me out I'd be much obliged. Thanks

    hi hetoreyn, my assumption: you have used the library installer on the DVD and not the one that comes with the viennaInstruments Software Installer 1.06 .... please check in the Directory Manager if all folders containing VIdata are listed and have you rebooted the machine after installing the chamber strings?
    MIDI device is busy means another application *has its hands* on the midi device and this device does not allow multiple clients - most times changing windows default midi device helps

    Hey CM .. thanks for the fast response. I actually did use the software installer that I downloaded from VSL as there was a huge written warning on the DVD cover against using the one on the disc .. so I avioded that like the plague [:P].

    I'm not getting a midi device problem per se, it's the Audio that won't seem to sort itself out .. nothing else is running so I can't see anything that could be hogging the resources.

    I used "Vienna Instruments Software Installer OS X PPC 1.06b (AU & VST Version)" from the download section.

    My directory manager is still empty. It seems that it just can't find what to load. I can add them .. but when I close the direcotry manager they're gone again .. even with rescan

    Hmm .. well now I seem to have a list of all my applications in the preset window on the VI player [:P].

    Still can't fathom out why it shows licenses for the whole cube .. I guess this might be this syncrosoft problem I've heard about with the new version .. I'm thinking I'm going to have to uninstall this .. however my key does seem to be fine. When I look at the Key contents it shows on ly the Chamber strings .. as it should.

    Should I be uninstalling and trying again with a different version. Mind you it seems the VI player is the thing that's not happy. Certainly the directory manager prog is not keeping it's contents.

    I had the same problem and found that I needed to select the actual instrument folder one level deeper in the VI Directory Manager. In other words,
    instead of choosing the oiutside VSL VI Chamber Strings folder, go one more level deeper in the directory and select each individual instrument. For example, Violins Chamber Strings, then Viola Chamber Strings, etc. Do this for each indivdual instrument folder.

    Sadly I have been doing just that and the directory manager still forgets what I've put in. It seems both the License software and the VI software just isn't working for my machine.

    Oh, I found that I can solve the audio problem temporarily. In the audio driver box it lets me select "Aggregate device" and inso doing it gets the sample rate back .. then you can swtich it back over to built in .. but of course it forgets this setting when you relaunch the app the next time.

    And even so .. there's no sounds for it to play [:D]

    Well .. I shall go shopping .. turn off the computer .. and hope my studio pixies fix the problem for my whilst I'm away. It sometimes happens. [:P]
