  • Midi device is busy or not functioning at given parameters.

I'm still getting an error message

    I have:
    1. formatted C partition and reinstalled W XP SP2
2- re-installed gigastudio3 orchestra 3.12 and everything is working OK
    3. re-installed Vienna instruments
    4. with no other program loaded I start Vienna VI stand alone and I get this message. "Midi device is busy or not functioning at given parameters. Please chek program prefernces".

If I go to the "configure menu" I read:
    MOTU PCI ASIO
    44100
    IN-1 USB MIDISPORT 8x8
If I click on it I can see all the 8 MIDI Channels,
If I click on one of those ,my PC monitor get black and then WXP restarts

    ATI Sapphire Pure CF Express3200 ADV939 SATA2 2xPCI-E
    AMD Athlon 64 3500+
    MOTU 2408 mK3 PCI-e
    MIDISPORT 8x8 (via USB)
    RAM 3 Giga DDR400

I can't use Vienna VI and is getting worrying!
And if I play it via MIDI keyboard as a VST it loses notes in fast passages
If I use my old VSL via MIDI keyboard on Ggigastudio3 everythjing is OK and verygood

  • Hi Sergino,

here´s my guess: Set the standard MIDI driver in your Windows Audio Settings (Control Panel => Audio Settings) to your soundcard driver, this should make the standalone version work.

    Hope that helps.

  • Thank you Paul, I could't set MIDI to my audio interface because there is no MIDI I/O, so I've tried with one of the GIGAPORTS and now the stand-alone VI works perfectly and it is really beautifull and...magic!

I still have inconsistences notes using the vst VI with Sonar 5 if I play fast I loose some notes. I've tried with the same keyboard and samples now used without problem with the sytandalone VI
    Any idea?

  • Hi Sergino,

do the dropouts also happen when you play back the fast sequence? This way we would be able to find out on our systems...

Can you find out more about when it happens (which matrices, only with Speed Control or similar)?

    Thank,

    Paul
