  • Opus 1+2 Vs. Kontak2 / GS3 bundled VSL libraries

    Hi there,

This may have been asked before, but search did't yield any results.

Are there any instruments in the Kontakt 2 VSL mini-library and the Gigastudio 3 bundled VSL library that aren't in Opus 1 + 2?

    If so, which ones?

I own all three and I'm doing a fresh install of my system and don't want to have duplicate samples on my drives..

    Some clarification would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Roy

  • Hi Roy,
Here are some things that I know of:[list:40673985f5][*:40673985f5] Opus 2 has fewer French Oboe articulations than K2.
    [*:40673985f5]Opus 1 has Cymbal.nki where K2 has Cymbal half.nki and Cymbals a due.nki
    [*:40673985f5]Opus 1 has Tubular_bells.nki where K2 has Tubular Bells (metal).nki and Tubular Bells (wood).nki
[*:40673985f5]K2 has modwheel-xfades for almost every articulation whereas the wind instruments in Opus1+2 only have this for legato instruments.[/list:u:40673985f5]
It would be very helpful with an official statement about all differences that exist.

    Regards,
    Nils

  • Indeed it would. Maybe someone from VSL can comment on this.

    Thanks for your input, Nils.

I tried them and didn't hear much of a difference between metal and wood. Both sound more like wood. I expected a quite different sound from a metal hammer. But maybe that's just me.
