  • Strings Preset with Orchestral Strings Library

    Hi,

just one quick question. On the Orchestral Strings 1 DVD, there are some "Ensemble" Strings presets.

It seems these presets require to install the Orchestral Strings 2 Package. Is that correct?

    Thanks,
    Jerome

  • Hi Jerome,

yes, to get the ensemble strings running you need the Orchestral Strings II stuff (cellos and basses).

  • Hey Herb, thanks for the answer!

As a side question, why did Vienna choose to only include these Ensemble String patches? A lot of them are sadely "missing" (Trills, Snap Pizz, Spiccato, Sordino, Tremolo Sul Ponticello, Col Legno, Artificial and Natural Harmonics...), and we have to use Sonic Implants samples instead...

  • All those aticulations and more are included in the individual patches. The String Ensembles are a sort of a courtesy writing tool and not designed for intensive use. Think about it: how do you even do the most basic panning between the sections? You don't. So use them for basic ideas compositionally and then use the individual sections for authentic realizations.
