    Are the portamento VLNS 14 supposed to have a shorter range...by a note or so...than the Legato VLNS 14? This was happening to me yesterday and the Portamento violins did not go up to a high Eb I was trying to hit, while the Legatos did go up.....

    VI-14 normal legato goes to D7,
    portamento to C7.

    Thanks that's what I thought.

    With all due respect, in the future, could VSL perhaps have some kind of standard so that all patches have the same range? This particular phrase of mine had to be pieced together because of the final note in the portamento not being high enough. I ended up having to crossfade over to a sustain patch, which did go high enough...

    The sustains are going up to A7 (or higher), but it would be impossible to produce intervall performances in this height withhin a reasonable recording schedule.
    As long as we are sampling real people performing real string and wind instruments, there will be sometimes playrange differences for performing different articulations.
