  • Tips for Transform input velocty to CController.

For Cubase sx user, you can use this tips to transform the data of velocity of the notes you recorded in a continuous controller for using the velocty_xfade function of VI:

In sx open the Key editor and select the notes you want to extract the velocity data ( don't select the keyswitch note)
    - open the Logical editor and create a preset and store it:
    ------------------------------------
    Insert
    ------Files target------------------
    Type is.......Equal........ Note
    -----------------------------------Action target------
    Type.............Set to fixed value......Controller...
    Value1..........Set to fixed value.......xx.......

    And press "do it"
(xx=No of the cc you want to use)

Now you have a lane with Controller you can adjust to create expression and can use the great function of Vi : the Velocity X-fade.
You can try on the beautiful JBacal tutorial who doesn't use the Velocity Xfade

    Best regards

I will try this later on, but I'd like you to answer one question if you can. When the velocity data is converted to controller data does it form smooth curves (or as smooth as 1/128 is anyway) or does it jump from note to note?

    Hello,
Don't speak enough english to undestand 100% your question but when I do this and active the velocity crossfade in VI the result is exaltly the same as before ( the curve generated is like an iregular rectangular waveform) and after that I draw smooth crescendo/decrescendo when I need some expression : velocity expression instead of volume expression so it becomes timbre crescendo...and becomes like other tutorial in the demo page, using a breth controler
    Hope can help you?!

  • This is exactly what I needed to know; thanks.
