Mostly quite self-explanatory really so forgive me if I've underestimated your knowledge...
Expression - mapped to CC11
- Relates to the EXP slider (far right on the Perform Page). Just a secondary volume control if you like, so you can leave your main mixer volume level constant and use Expression to create swells etc. as part of the performance.
Master attack - unassigned
- The ATK slider in Perform which is a master Attack level for the currently selected matrix. You'll find other attack sliders (and other goodies) for individual patches/cells if you click on Edit Cell in each active cell of the Patch Assign window. I don't think these Edit Cell controls are assignable.....YET!?!
Master Filter freq - unassigned
- As above but for the master filter cutoff.
Master releases - unassigned
- As above but for the master envelope release.
Pitch - unassigned
- This would usually be assigned to the Pitch bend wheel/lever and does exactly that, though you could equally assign it to a knob. If you close the Controller assignment window and switch back to Perform Control you will see that you can adjust the range of the pitch bend controller.
Rel.samples on on/off - unassigned
- Some patches have release samples but you may only want them to play at the end notes of a phrase. Assign this to a switch if you have one free so you can automate them in the mix. But again any controller will work.
Slot crossfader - unassigned
- Haven't tried this yet but I think it allows you to crossfade between cells. Drag patches to both the upper and lower cells and ensure the X in the middle is switched on. Assign your Slot X-fade controller and play.
Velocity.xfade on/OFF - unassigned
- Does what it says on the tin...turns the velocity Xfade slider on or off....see below.
Velocity crossfader - unassigned
- Have a look at the Video Tutorials for this one. In short, when the Vel Xfade button is ON, this slider can be used like an expression slider but as well as raising the volume of a note it crossfades through the velocities so you can create smooth and natural sounding dynamics. This works best with ensemble sounds though, as you will hear some phasing at the xfade points on a solo instrument, where two of the same sound are playing simultaneously.
Volume - mapped to CC7
- That'll be the master volume control for the VI instance.
Hope that's of some help, though I'm not quite sure if I've actually told you anything new. [:O]ops:
I think the main thing is to assign some controllers and play around with it.
Have fun!
