  • audio quits in logic while running VI

    I'm not sure what is going on here;
    my system:
Dual G5 with 4 gigs of RAM
    Logic 7
    Tascam FW-1804 interface
    Vienna instruments

I start Logic and run VI on an audio instrument track. I then load a preset into VI. Logic and VI show a signal coming through but no sound through the interface. Once I turn the interface off then back on, I get sound. However, shortly the sound stops again.
I've updated the firmware for the FW-1804 and the problem still presists. I've never had any problem with this interface before.
Any ideas would be a big help.
    Thanks

Make sure you are using Logic 7.2.1. This latest update solves a problem where tracks would suddenly stop playing.

  • Thanks I do need to update. It usually is something simple. I've been too myopic to see it.
    Cheers

  • I've had the same problem. I also use Logic 7.2 ,4 gigs of RAM with a Apogee Rosetta 800. For me there is either no sound or it stters badly. Sometimes the problem I can fix the problem by flipping the Apogee off and on or by resetting the buffer size in the Hardware and Drivers. And then there are times that I have to do a complete restart. It is only The Vienna Instruments tthat trips up my interface and I've never had trouble before now. Once I get it locked in it's fine but sometimes it can take me 20 minutes to get sussed out.

  • sorry I meant to say it sometimes stutters badly. And by the way I do have the latest updates and they didn't help this problem for me.

Mattdown6...but do you have Logic 7.2.1? Not 7.2.....

Also, how are you using just a Rosetta as an interface?

    Tom

  • Hey Tom,

Yes, I am using 7.2.1. As for the Rosetta I use a Digidesign 192 to plug my mic pres , POD, stuff like that, into then I interface that to the Rosetta. and I'm using the Digidesign Sync box for my midi stuff. I had run Logic on top of the TDM platform for a minute but then decided it was easier to just run native.
I'm clocking to a Big Ben.
    I think that's everything.
