  • The Logic "Buss" demystified........;-)

Have you ever created a buss object....and yelled bloody @@#$% because Buss objects can't have send knobs? You know, what if you want to send the short reverb buss to a tape echo buss just a little....

    Well ,,,,you can [;)]

I will admit my stupidity [;)]

For years now I thought that for a buss to exist you had to create a buss object.....

NOT SOOOO.......... busses always exist. EVEN when there aren't any buss objects....
Sounds confusing/abstract huh??? bear with me....

INSTEAD of creating a buss object, create an AUX object......Now set the AUX's input to an unused buss.....let's say it is buss 5

Now go to an audio track and evoke a send knob that sends to buss 5......

Guess what? The signal arrives at the AUX object...Which DOES have send knobs [;)]

This is also the best way to set up stems...

i feel so stupid YEARS jeez

    SvK

  • SvK,

That's one of the few things that hasn't puzzled me in Logic. Honestly, there are some days when if suffer from LOLK* syndrome massively. There are so many vertical areas of unique feature sets.
You know, I get by OK with it but it sure would be great to have a deeper knowledge of it. Since I moved off the West Coast there really haven't been any local human resources to go to for knowledge.

Do you know of any multi-day intensive courses for Logic in LA? (I know you live in SD but perhaps you might still be aware of one.) I'd seriously consider coming over for a week or so for something like that.

Don't worry....We have all got an " I AM STOOOPID STORY" like that one. When you figure something out that has baffeled you for years - it really is a Eureka moment!!

  • Congrats on the Epiphany...as Paul said...pretty awesome when it happens...

I'm still REALLY irritated that Logic only allows 1 channel of CC info per multi-instrument (boo...Konakt 2..and the cool VSL library that comes with it, is basically useless in Logic)...and the fact that you CAN'T BUS TO AN AUDIO TRACK.

of course, this is a VSL forum..and not an Apple Forum...so I won't go on....

but speaking of VSL vs. Apple...thank you guys again SO MUCH for being reachable! It makes all the difference in the world for us users.

  • "thank you guys again SO MUCH for being reachable!"

VSL puts every high-end company I've ever known to shame. Sometimes it's like Christian does nothing all day but stare at the phone or email, waiting for us to contact him.

Sorry to aggravate the wounds of anyone who's had a bad experience. There's no such thing as trouble-free computing, and I've had a few VSL technical bumps like the rest of us. But VSL is amazing in their response time.

Ugh! Just remembered this is a thread about Logic busses!

Jack, are you familiar with Len Sasso's "Tips and Tricks"? It's a small little book that's perfect for intermediate Logic users. It was written for Logic 6, so it's a bit dated, but still helpful.

  • Plowman,

You know, when I first got Logic and before I even installed it, I sat down and read that book cover-to-cover. At the time it reminded me of reading a manual.

But thanks for reminding me of it. I think I'll get it off the shelf tonight and dust it off and read the parts again that currently apply.

It should help. Thanks as always.

  • I stand corrected. Actually it was the Orren Merton book, Logic 6 Power! that I read. And looking at it again it does somewhat seem like a paraphrase of the manual.

For some reason I've always confused Merton and Sasso.

Just ordered the Sasso book from Amazon anyway.
