    Hi all,

    My Brain has officially turned into mashed potatoes......

    I now have 3 G5's running successfully......The autoload is done except for some woodwinds....

    Setup:

    G5 Master runs Logic 7.2 with 16 VIs of Strings I (violins violas), EXS24s with winds and all IRs
    G5 Slave A runs Plogue with 16 VIs of Strings 2 (celli basses)
    G5 Slave B runs Plogue with ALL Epic Horns on Kontakt2 AND All percussion on Kontakt2......AND Akoustic Piano


    Main G5 has an aggregate device with a Metric Halo ULN-2 and RME 3xADAT (24 channels) Hammerfall card.

    Both slaves have 1 Hammerfall Lite card each which feed into the RME 3xADAT on MASTER G5

    G5 Master has 7 gig RAM
    G5 Slave A has 4 gig RAM
    G5 Slave B has 4 gig RAM

    Metric Halo ULN-2 is master clock with a wordclock cable going OUT of it into RME 3xADAT pci card

    The slave hammerfalls are synched to ADAT from RME 3xADAT card..

    The Autoload for Logic is now complete as well....for EQing the various string /wind / horn / percussion stems I used 1992 Cape Fear AND Basic Instinct as references for EQ and IR's

    Everthing sounds INCREDIBLY real now...With the VIs having the 4 alternations at all the velocity layers....ESPECIALLY the perf-trills


    All of this has taken a month........But what an AUTOLOAD it is......

    Q1 Where are your Tpts / Troms living?
    Q2 am I right in assuming you have only the 2 Orchestral string VI's at the moment
    Q3 I am guessing 3 seperate screens - one for each - or did you get a switcher involved?
    Q4 Your 16 VIs - I tend to do a lot of matrix switching within 2 or 3 VI's for each stg choir (vlns / vla / etc) am I missing something why you have 8 instances for each string choir. I would love to know how you have them configured....I am not asking you to spend the next month typing either....just generally if possible. [[:)]]

    I reckon these two questions are related and the capital of India is Orgasm! [:P]

    stupid question: what for would one need 16 VI's just for Strings I .. do you play all articulations at once?!
    i suggest one extra g5 for the triangle hit at the end of your opera

    Of Course not......


    I will elaborate over week-end...........It's mostly for organisational purposes........8 kewyswitches per VI instance is about as far as I like to go.

    And mixing.........certain violins have very different reverb / treatment from others. Hence they get sent to a different AUX/BUSS

    another example: I like having sordino legato's playing ONTOP of regular legatos.....behind that short notes for rhythm............

    AND now lets divide the 2nd violins to play a flautando pad benath everything..........AND have the reamining 2nd violin players fade in over time with ponticello trems.

    Well done if it works for you my friend - I am about to delve into the world of orchestral templates again to regig my orchestral autoload....
