    please, please do some tests on a G5 and launch circa 1.5 gig worth of VIs and 1.5 gig worth of K2s

    ..no problem here on G5 2.3 Dual 6 Gb Ram Logic.
    Running:
    5 Kontakt Vers.2.1 / 8 inst each one. (Running 24 bit Lybz)
    6 EXS 24 Running Opus 1 Performance Legato (Samplemerged by EXS Manager)
    3 V.I. including Legato Speed, Repetitions Speed, Sus.Shorts. Pizz, Tremolo.

    Just a silly thought, since Anton has no problems with his slightly faster machine: what's your sound card's buffer setting? I can't run the MOTU one at 128 with the V.I. - it has to be 256.

    As far as I can see, the Kontakt "low memory" warning can be ignored. I've always just kept going and never had a problem.

    Hi SVONKAMPEN,

    I did all tests on this machine: Power PC G5 2.5 Dual/6GB RAM/OS 10.4.6/Logic Pro 7.2.1

    1)
    I loaded:
    K2 (2.0): 1GB (with Chamber strings perf-leg programs)
    VI (1.06b): 1.67 GB (with L2 Preset Solo Violine and L2 Preset Flute 2) 2 instances

    I didn´t encounter any problems. This setup worked fine.

    After I added some more programs to Kontakt I got a message saying: "Memory is getting low" although there was still enough RAM free according to the readout in the activity monitor.


    2)

    For this test I updated Kontakt 2.0 to the latest version.

    1 Kontakt 2.11: (loaded Epic Horns and some Chamber Strings, 28 instruments in total)
    1,14 GB = memory readout from Kontakt GUI and the memory readout used for Logic (RSIZE) in the activity monitor showed 1,6 GB

    VI (1.06b): (loaded Solo Violin Preset L2, Solo Cello Preset L1 and 14 more Vienna Instruments = 16 in total. It was not necessary to load content to all of them because you didn´t play all of them simultaneously. To get the mentioned amount of memory I decided to load two huge presets of instruments you suggested).

    1,9 GB = memory readout for VSL server in activity monitor

    I played a violin line, a cello pad and horn chords, but unfortunately nothing weird happened. Everything played back smoothly.

    So, obviously I will have to do some more tests when I am back from my holidays.
