  • Freezing works perfectly with exs24's - no problem at all and with Vienna Instruments I'm working now with a project that has frozen Vienna Instruments and the VSL Pro Edition on EXS 24's. It also works with Stylus RMX, Atmosphere - even audio tracks - in a word everything. (except where the audio source or routing involves external gear) Well at least it does in Logic 6.4 - 7.2

  • I'm wrong....

you should be able to freeze anything (I was thinking of nodes....brain needs coffee[;)]

  • If you check out posts on the subject in the Logic forum (APPLE), there are many people having trouble with tracks that just suddenly stop playing. For me those tracks seem to be virtual instrument tracks, never audio tracks...(yet)

  • Yep,

SID sudden instrument death.. I've had that - it's a real pain.

  • As long as you have the latest os 10.4.6, pro-app thingie, a supported audio-interface that is not junk RME/MetricHalo/PT, seperate drives for vsl, and Logic 7.2 you are good to go.

  • Julian,

I have never had SIDS on Logic.....never..

The only thing I can think of is Audio Interface....

I'm working everyday 12 to 14 hrs with loads of Vienna Instrumenta AND old EXS24 VSL in same session......

Aside from Dongle hassle in the morning....(yank - unyank rep2) NOOOO problems

Logc is very solid.......no offense but 75% of the crowd on Logic Discussion board are completely clueless and not ready for a comnplex program.

I have all of those things (RME Interface), and tracks DO stop playing, on a daily basis, for me and others. What does this mean?

Somehow I get the feeling that some plug ins are causing the problem, not Logic. For instance, East West Gold hasn't been updated in a year, etc. Ivory has problems also, I've been in touch with them, their piano almost never freezes successfully. But I love Logic, and am sticking with it....

  • SIDS : It's a well known Logic bug. No doubt about it. Some people are lucky not to have it that often though.

  • Just for the record (won't help you though): I've NEVER had Sudden Instrument Death. This is the first I've heard of it. All my insts play every time...all the time.

  • What brings on the SID in Logic is too much polyphony. I have had my Harp tracks disappear on a regular basis as the instrument is sustaining mega notes and poor little logc dosen't like it. So I have had SID about 100 times and have to reload. Always on the Harp tracks but sometimes on others as well.

It has never happened in Digital Performer.
