  • help with rescanning for samples

hey guys - running Digital performer 4.61, on mac os 10.4.5

VSI's been working fine, but have just copied over all the samples, presets, etc, into a new firewire 800 drive.

the problem i'm having is getting VSI to rescan, so i can get it to start reading the samples, etc, from the new drive, rather than the previous one.

i've used the directory manager to remove the folders and then readded them. However, digital performer still sees the old samples. (i know this, because, having removed all the folders with directory manager, i quit DP, reopened it, and it was still seeing all the old folders.) I removed the audio units cache, and tried again - it rescans all the plugs, but still sees the old folders!

but, bizarrely, i just checked with VSI standalone, and this totally follows what i'm doing with directory manager. (i.e. when i've removed all folders, standalone doesn't see anything, then when i add them, it does.)

how can i get it to start reading from the new drive?? [*-)]

  • paul, we recommend to reboot the machine after adding/moving licenses or moving data and re-assigning paths with the directory manager.
at least the hosting application needs a restart i'd say (too much caching going on here)

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • thanks christian - all sorted [:D]
