  • Pro Tools Users??

What about us PT users who do not own Logic or DP, etc... Is it fair to request an RTAS version? What other options do we have?

  • Welcome Rinky,

RTAS is in the works. Until then, you could use the Vienna Instruments stand-alone.

  • You can also use RAX...http://www.grantedsw.com/rax/">http://www.grantedsw.com/rax/

    A great and inexpensive app.

    HTH,

Great! I bought the Orchestral Strings and Woodwinds not realizing that it was only available for AU and VST users! Any hint on approximate release date? Thanks.

  • Jamieh, are u running RAX yourself, and if so what is the performance like latency and stability-wise?

I've read some bad things about it, and gave up checking it myself.

  • Just checked up on RAX, and VI is not listed as supported.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. RAX supports any AU Instrument or Effect.
It runs the VSL just fine. I used MIDI Patchbay to route MIDI from Pro Tools 7.1 to RAX. It will send on whatever MIDI channel you need so you can set up multiple VI's.
I have Pro Tools running on an MBox and the RAX going out a MOTU firewire box.
I don't notice any real latency on my machine. RAX also means you can use AU Effects on the VI.
Now, I use Logic to compose with but if you need ProTools it looks like this can work till the RTAS version comes out. You would be able to use Audio Hijack to render the audio and bring that into PT's for mixing.
RAX can be downloaded and Demoed to see if it works for you.
    Just trying to offer options.

ADDENDUM: You can record to disc directly in RAX. So you could record your MIDI in PT. Render the tracks directing from RAX and bring it into PT for final mix.
