  • Lizences at different PCs

Can I use violins, violas AND ONLY CELLI at one PC 1, Bass at another PC ?
Shure, I can copy the files, but I get a lizence for Cello AND Bass only.
Because of limited memory, its nessesary for me to split instruments, not move a lizense.

    Bernhard (again)

  • I'm sorry to say that the answer is no... you cant split collections [:(]

  • Ähh,
I could not jet install Woodwinds I because of bad DVDs, but: Don´t tell me, I have to run ALL WOODS I on ONE PC ?

    Yes [:'(]

  • i have to correct this: you can run different collections on different computers (1 license per collection) - so WWI and WWII can be split, also OSI and OSII. you cannot split eg. violins and violas, because both are in OSI

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.

Err, I have to correct you because he asked about WW I, not WW I AND II [8-)]

  • So I can play less sounds than before with GS3. I had Violins, Violas, Celli on one PC, Flutes and Bass at a 2nd PC because the 3rd PC was full with "Woods" (only Klarinet, oboe, fagott, no aditional Ensemble !!)
    I dont ask about Brass.....
    You have to do something.

  • [:O]ops: it has its advantages if one can read .... sorry

Well occasionally it's nice to be right about something (and I'm not really used to it) [H]

I'm in agreement with you that not allowing us to split the licence is a big mistake. The only consolation that I can offer is that by my, admittedly very unscientific, tests VI is nearly 100% more efficient at loading than GS, so if you were trying to mimic your GS setup you could probably do it all on one PC. It's just that with all those extra articulations it's such a temptation......

  • Hmm, ok,
but for now I need double Ram for 1st. and 2nd.Violins. We´ll see what an update will bring.

    Thank You so far.

Yes this is a huge drawback, but hopefully the update is not far away.

  • By the way,
I read the discussion about "Epic Strings". I think, it would make more sense to have real 2nd Strings, because it sounds to "fat" if You use 1st for two lines. I don´t have a problem in producing a huge, full orchestra with VI so far.
I liked "Garritan Strings" because of this.

VSL - regarding that update. Lets say I have Sustains loaded for Violins, celli, violas and basses. Could I (with this update) then load the 'Ensemble String Sustain' patches as well? I normally never use these - but I fiured they would be great for hammering out chords and stuff (which I assume is what they are for)

    [Edit] Post 1000 btw [:D]
