let's check some basics first .... you run windowsXP on your PCs and your memory settings are standard. how many GB ram do you have per machine btw?
regarding installation: all problems so far turned up to be the result of unexpected interaction with firewalls and/or anti virus applications.
ok, two exceptions: a SONY DDU1615 DVD-ROM in a DELL desktop (doesn't read even the first DVD - the SONY works fine in other computers and DELLs with other drives too) and one DVD with a significant scratch on its surface.
you could help us to reproduce this issue listing your installed programs (especiall those *unusual* for DAWs)
