Strange Dongle Anomaly

This is very odd. Now that my extra dongles have turned up I was planning to take the Woodwind and Brass licences off the original dongle and install them on one of the new ones.

However, although VI says that they are on the original dongle, according to Syncrosoft Licence Control I only have String licences, so I have nothing to transfer.

Any ideas?

dg, having a look into your record i can see the strings (solo, chamber, orch I, orch II) sitting on your registered (first) ViennaKey.
so either you have successfully transferred your woodwinds I (to a ViennaKey or other syncrosoft protection device i don't have in the records) or (most probable) you have not downloaded the woodwinds license at all.
if your 180 starts demo mode is still active, you might have not noticed that so far ....

ps: to track such issues was the reason for asking to register all keys you are using for vienna licenses on the ViennaKey registration page

pps: no brass licenses have been handed out at all so far ...

You may well be right, but it did say something in VI about Brass licences. Maybe it's registered products.......

I'll look into all this tomorrow as it is certainly possible that I didn't download the woodwind licences, although I'm fairly sure that I have registered everything. I haven't installed the woodwinds yet, so it didn't become an issue until today.

How embarrassing; I hadn't downloaded the Woodwinds licence, only registered them [8-)]

dg, regarding the brass:
it seems your 180 starts demo license is still active (which is valid for all applications delivered by VSL)
now the names of the ViennaLicenses are stored within the Syncrosoft License Control Center (the licenses itself are long alphanumeric strings which wouldn't say you something)
the ViennaInstrument (and the syncrosoft protection) now *sees* all stored and active licenses, therefore you can see also brass and other not even released collections.
after your demo license is expired or removed they won't show up anymore.

Ah, I understand. I didn't use any of the 180 starts for anything as I already paid for the Extended.

I'll register the other dongle tomorrow when I have the strength to tear the polythene open.
