  • VI is very good!

    Hello,

Just wanted to say that I am really impressed with the possibilities and the sound quality of the VI.
It is really an enormous step forward in sampling technique.
I just played the oboe for half an hour an it is amazing what can be done!

    Great!

Congratulations for getting it working-- I followed your other thread about Logic Express...

VI is pretty amazing for its clarity and integrated expressive possibilities. Strings have always been the trickiest to use, but the winds are wonderful. I'm glad they included the French Oboe with Woodwind I because I use it a lot more than the German Oboe, which has a wamer sound and actually blends better in a section of winds. The sound of the French Oboe for solos is a must, at least for me.

VSL has done a very good thing-- and it's not over yet!!

  • The accomplishment of VI may have been obscured by 1.0 issues. Syncrosoft is a work in progress, and then there's operator error (to which I proudy contribute). Moreover, a lot of us can only dip our toes into VI because we're on deadline and we don't have the time to abandon our previous formats is one grand move. So the inordinate strength of this new beast may be under-represented on the forum.

The interface itself continues to impress me. Kudos to golem. I can't imagine something this complex being any easier to learn. Once initiated into the perf-rep tool, I had my concerns about VI. Like tax laws, things promised to get simpler have a way of becoming more complex. But VI is truly simpler to use.

I had grand plans of VI template building. But it's so easy to build sounds in this interface, I've redirected my efforts to composing, and I'll just build my sounds along the way. This is the first major sampling purchase I've made that did not take me away from music-making for a season of prep and adjustment. It has integrated seamlessly into the template I already had in Logic. For once, I did not have to re-invent the orchestral wheel.

Now, if the "Appassionatas" can do for violins what the French Oboe did for the initial oboe, that would be extraordinary.

VI is great, but it was in my case certainly not helped by Logic Express.
This program is useless, because Apple today confirmed that it is only possible to use one port.
Nowhere to be read in the manual!
I use Plogue Bidule now, it seems to work fine, and gives me as many midi ports as I want.

    Greetings,
