I got it but the VI´s are crashing it if they exceet the memory limit instead of a warning.

  • Hi,

our programmers have told me, that it´s impossible at this time to give a warning message before the VI is overloaded.

I will try to find out the reasons for this, just wanted to tell you that this is not an unusual behaviour. And once you find out the limit on your computer, you know it - after each loading process the information window keeps you up to date with your loading capacities...

    Hope that helps.

  • Eh?? I certainly haven't encountered this problem in any app I've written, but at one point or another the memory allocation call fails and you get an exception or a return value indicating the attempt wasn't successful? At least that's how the allocation routines are documented... Paul, you're obviously not the right person to answer this, but we have to ask why this error can't be catched and handled so that it behaves gracefully in this situation?

  • Sorry, but if thats the only "solution" i am not going to work with it.
This is not a workarround in my opinion, espacially the bigger presets take up so much ram that even after 3-4 the ram is fully loaded.
also how do we know which instruments are taking what ram?

thats the worst try and error beta sittuation i have ever had.

i would definetly put this on the top of the high priority list.

Absolutely! I just wanted to give you a more detailed question to use when bugging the boys... [:)]

  • *clear_one's_throat* ... mattias, there is a dedicated area where such and similar questions could have been deposited since at least a while ... no offence

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Hrm...ok I'll go to my room. [:D]

  • Hi Gagga 3.0,

if you click on ANY preset, matrix, patch, the information window always displays the information you need.

And, eh, yes, we offer a lot of samples.... but you will hardly need a full Level 2 preset for all instruments...

Of course you do, and Level 3 and Level 4. What's that matter with you all? Are you wimps or something? I want to see my "new" (delayed until next year) Vista PC loaded with up to Level 24 presets for all possible instruments that have ever existed or may exist in the future. This is what I expect from VSL [8-)]

    Now back to work [:@]
