I can't seem to locate the thread I had mentioned this in, but a few days ago, I was having trouble finding the LOAD and SAVE PRESET menu options of VI while using Forte. I wrote Forte tech support, and received this answer:
"The 'File' and 'Options' menu choices displayed in the manual are not part of the VSL UI. They are drawn by the host used in stand alone mode. When VSL is hosted by a wrapper in Sonar, the buttons described in the forum thread are drawn by the wrapper, not the plug-in.
In forte, these options are handled by the Preset Manager - the LED with a disk icon in it above the plug-in UI. Just left-click in an empty area of the LED display and you will see a menu with Load/Save options. Note, that using the load and save displayed in the menu will create a file with an extension of either fxp or fxb. These files should be usable when using other hosts, but will not show up as presets in the Preset Manager. If you instead click on the disk icon you will create a forte User Preset. This will contain the same info as an the presets saved via the menu, but they are in a native forte format and will then show up as available presets in the Preset Manager."
So, it was pilot error the whole time[;)] I'd like to add that Forte has been very stable, and that their tech support via Greg has been outstanding.
