hi there,
I've been working for a long time on panning and mixing and I have achieved good results.
I have done my mixing in my sequencer which require multiple group tracks and lots of routing.
This high number of rounting is quite annoying.
here is what i have been doing (i am using Nuendo)
I am going to treat it as if it was only one channel strip, just duplicate the process for more tracks:
1) gigastudio output is sent to nuendo via fxteleport (or rewire..or watever)
2) gigastudio inputs in nuendo is bused to a mono track (which i will use for panning), to reinforce the sound and make it less wide...i have tried reducing the width..but i would lose the stereo feel of the sounds...so mixing a mono with the full stereo reproduces the decca tree configuration.
3) i then route both stereo and mono into a stereo group
4) i send an appropriate level from this stereo group to an aux track which has the reverb (in this case the IR1)
If deciding to mic model the sounds (which i would use the antares mic modeler), i would insert it at the level of the gigastudio output coming into nuendo. When using rewire mic modeling with the antares mic modeler is simple as each rewire input is mono. With fx teleport you have to split the stereo inputs into 2 mono tracks and then apply the mic modeler, which works.
The antares mic modeler only processes mono files...if you try to process a stereo track..it will only process on side..i believe it is the left one.
This whole configuartion is a pain to make, but making a template file saves you from doing it eveyrtime for every project.
Now my question is...is it possible to reproduce this in gigastudio?
I am most likely sure it is not..however....is it possible to reproduce this decca tree configuration in the gigastudio mixer?
The whole idea behind my configuration was to recreate the sound chain when recording an orchestra. instrument to mic to mixer etc etc
Does my configuration make sense?
I am not just trying to get a average mix used as a temporary score before it is played by a real orchestra...i am trying to get an actual VERY good sounding mix that would sound just like a film score.
Again, my configuration seems to sound pretty good...yet it is a pain to mix with all these routings in nuendo...so i am trying to find a more efficient way to do it.
Please enlight me on this subject, and if possible inform me on how scoring sessions are actually recorded and mixed.
thank you all
