How about this for future versions of the AU:
Possibility of draging a cell from the AU window to the arrangement.
In practice this would be the midi notes & controller values of the corresponding Matrix & key switch.
When I'm writing a line or playing a part in the sequencer I often click in the matrix cells to see what articulation works well. It's nice & visual & very quick.
However, if I find something to my liking, here's what I have to do next :
-work out which key switches are necessary to perform in the sequencer
-place the sequencer at correct position
-press record
-play the key switches
-stop sequencer.
This isn't difficult in itself but it's alot of operations.
A dream function would be to
-seize the cell in the AU
-drag it to your sequencer track & voilĂ
The result would be a midi bloc named with the selected articulation.
It's content would be :
-matrix keyswitch
-vertical cc number & value (or keyswitch midi note)
-horizontal cc number & value (or keyswitch midi note)
Other intelligent options would be.
-Dragging the Matrix keyswitch from the matrix's keyswitch assignment box.(to drag only the matrix's midi note)
-Dragging a single Keyswitch assignment from the keyswitch assignment menu in the control edit window. (Single dimension info -> would also result in just one midi note, & would work well if you need to control the other axis of the matrix via a performance controller like modwheel while playing...)
I really think these would be great functions for not having to scratch head on a Big multiple matrix preset instrument no?
Also the automatic naming of the dragged blocs in the sequencer would be great for a visual understanding & reminder of what were the articulations used in parts of the arrangement...
