  • VI Instal Clarification

I just added a second raid0 to my PC and I'm in the process of moving the Orch Strs I and II plus the solo strings over to these larger drives so I can have all of the VI on one drive. Questions:

    1) When I was originally installing the libraries I was going to use the new library installer but as soon as the DVD went in it automatically opened a loader window which I used. Was this loader program on the DVD and therefore an old version or was it initiating the newer program on my computer? Should I first launch the VI library installer before inserting the DVD?

    2) The software version that I'm using is 1.01 I do not see a 1.03 on the website. I saw a thread about this and so I double checked and this time the website said I have no software updates for my registered software?

    3) When I finish moving the files over to my new HDs (by just coping them over in windows explorer) do I just open the VI software and close it again or is there a proceedure I need to follow to tell VI were the files have moved to?

    Thanks for the help.

  • Hello Eric,

    here some answers:

    1) the Library installer for PC was working fine and you did the right thing. You only need the new Library installer on the Mac

    2) that´s strange, I´m sure we can fix that. Please write a mail to support@vsl.co.at, Christian Marin will take care of it.

    3) Please use the Directory Manager to point at the new location of your folders.

  • eric, the version 1.01 was OSX PPC, although you should only see 1.03 since several days. please hit the *refresh* symbol of your browser (possibly two or three times) to make sure you don't see cached information.
the download page provides http-headers to make sure no browser or proxy delivers cached content, but a few transparent caches seem to ignore them.

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Thanks guys, that worked.
Now do I unistall 1.01 then install 1.03 or do I just run 1.03?

  • Hi Eric,

the safest way is to uninstall v1.01 first, then install v1.03.

Overwriting an "old" VI version always worked for me, but just to avoid any troubles,...
