  • Install V-Stack on the slave. Your daw does not care.

Then V-Stack should launch like any other program, if not something is wrong. If it does just load the VI as any other vst and make the midi In one of your MOL ports.

  • Hi Christian - I first must say you have been so helpful in all your posts.

I have Vstack installed on a slave (RME 96/52 sound card)

    This is what is happening>

When I launch VS it says the following

"The current ASIO-MME config was never tested or previously failed the test...if test fails you will have to either select fewer simultanious audio inputs or adjust buffer size (I have it set at 256 samples now).

the prompt window asks me to 'test it now'

I do and then I get...

another dialog window that says (VS encountered a problem...) [:'(]

Any suggestions on getting this set up. I only have this slave turned on - should I turn on the HOST as well right now? (should not matter though to set up Vstack on the slave right?)

  • I'm sorry Rob, I dont have any ideas. Turning on your main Daw should not be needed.

Try messing with your soundcard settings,

You could also try the following for testing reasons:

Turn on GS3 first. Setup your midiports (including freeing some you might want to use for V-Stack should it work).

Then boot up V-Stack and go to the Rewire menu and activate GS3. Maybe this will trick your soundcard.

    Its worth a shot.

    Hi Christian,

Thanks for the reply. On this 'fourth PC' - it use to be my old HOST for SX (it doesn't have GS installed on it). I want to keep my GS machines working as GS until ALL the VI's are here (to not be out of business)

This RME card worked great as my HOST soundcard. I tried to raise the samples to 512 and that didn't do any thing -

I guess I could try to install VS on one of the GS machines to see what happens.

What do you think - seems like a 'soundcard' issue???

    Rob

  • Well, I'm not really a tech expert, but it sounds like a soundcard issue. You could try install VS on your main Daw og giga PC just for kicks - try if it works. It should not ruin anything.

Also try reinstall VS on your current PC. Also if you ran SX (i'm asuming cubase?) on it, V-Stack should work.

Yes - your last statement is what is the issue - I ran SX 3.1.x on this same machine and yet when VS opens it says the card doesn't pass the test????

    Rob

  • Yeah that seems BS...

I'm sorry that I have no other suggestions than reinstalling or trying other PC's

If you get desperate you could try reinstall SX3, and run its tests. Then install VS and see if it now passes. And if it does, uninstall SX3 or maybe just let it stay installed. It shouldnt require your key unless you try run the program.

I know my suggestions are kind of voodoo - but computers do require a fair ammount of voodoo [:)]

  • Just curious, why do you need of V-Stack and Cubase-SX running on the same computer?

    best
    Herb

  • Christian,

Just got a hold of Stienberg USA - they had me open the drivers available with in the control panel of VS. It defaults to the standard ASIO driver but needs the ASIO specific to the card on that machine. Would have been nice to see that in their literature. Oh well - working OK now.

Hope this helps others with same problem on VS.

Only to see if that would trick the computer into running V-Stack

Glad it works now Rob - happy testing.

I just fired up the VI again, even though I really should be working. Still testing for the optimal Matrix [:)]
