  • Installation went well, but...

... VI won't load - either standalone or in Logic. I'm stumped.

Tried ViennaKey in various USB ports - hubs, straight into the Mac etc. LCC sees the key, and is happy, but no VI.

Rebooted, and reinstalled AU component. Still nothing.

All I get is the "(application) is not responding" message in the dock/force quit window.

I've read through the forum, but nothing seems to match - the "Logic Hangs on AU validation" is a similar problem, but the fixit doesn't work...

    *** hold the press! ***
I eventually get a "Syncrosoft License Control - Error. Application 'VSL' has caused the following error: 1
    click ok to abort"

    [:(]
    any ideas?
    cheers,
    Peter

  • Peter,

I had similar experiences during installation but it appears to be working fine now except for elongated load times.

The first time you open a VI it can take a (very) long time so have you tried launching Logic, inserting a VI in the instruments window then going off to make a coffee?

Have you installed the Vienna Instrument from the VSL website download rather than the CD-ROM?

Also open the Vienna directory app to check that the disc that you installed the sample on is shown (it should show the folders and path of all your samples)

    Good luck!

    Julian.

  • Thanks for the reply, Julian - it's not getting that far though.

Logic gets to the splash screen, and tries to validate the new plugins and sits there for half an hour.

The Vienna Directory App is happy.

    BTW, Mac Spec is:

    G5 2x2GHz
    6Gb RAM
    OS X 10.4.5
Vienna AU version 1.0a (from website)

am rebuilding permissions etc, and going for another run...

  • Dear Peter,

I had similar problems (I'm the hanging thread), I left my Dual G5 for over an hour I think to validate the AU!, also the activity monitor reports the vsldaemon as "not responding" but it actually works fine (I have seen similar issues with iChat)

I also used Cocktail to delete all my caches as well as repairing permissions.

    Hope this helps

    Dave Hage

  • Thanks Dave,

I actually ran cocktail this morning, too - caches, scripts permissions etc, and auto reboot - and now the standalone version is working (still took a while to load). I was waiting to post results until I've had a chance to run Logic. I'm loving the playability of this thing...

    cheers again

    Peter
