  • Audiophile Witchcraft?

    Hey All,

Does anybody have any opinions, or information, on Golden Sound's Acoustic Discs? I know that the audiophile market can be filled with absolute mystical garbage, but with the claims they're making about the Acoustic Discs I thought I should at least find out whether anyone I respect has any experience with them. I can at least imagine a certain amount of science and sense coming into play with the idea of using resonators to tune a room (after all, that is what the Helmholtz desgn does), but I've no idea whether these people are simply dipping too far into the fairly dust, or whether they've actually accomplished something significant and/or effective.

    Thoughts or experiences?

  • this is a wind up, isn't it?

without going into too much detail, for these discs to 'tame resonances down to 80hZ' as they claim, they're going to have to be about 1 cubic meter in size, have a density of at least 50kg/m3, and be made out of some kind of glass/rock wool.

...and you're going to need more than 12 of them.

Same old story - if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. [[;)]]

  • hehe...

Yeah, it's certainly pretty hard to imagine how these things could do what they claim to do. And I'm not terribly comforted by the nebulous "Scientific measurements" they've done... which we are given the opportunity to see... and which don't happen to be backed-up by any 3rd party group... hmmm...

It's warm and cozy in the land of make-believe!
But they do sell these thing, it seems.

And I bet they can't believe their luck, every time they do! [:D]
