VSL VI is a VSTi, so all sequencers that are able to load VSTi should be able to load VSL VI (all these blasted initials). Therefore, if you use Cubase/Nuendo/Logic/DP/Sonar (to name a few) you should be OK, as long as it is a fairly recent version.
ProTools is not yet possible, except (maybe) with a VST bridge, and you have to blame DodgyDesign for this for making themselves incompatible with a fairly large portion of the audio/sequencer world [:D]

I guess anyone on a Mac running Logic would only be using VSL VI's as AU's (Audio Units) not VST's - You're right - blasted initials...

I asked a similar question to this and herb answered. You can have universal mode running but you can switch to a different matrix with a control key. The Universal mode is really just a premade matrix anyway so you can load it and then change it all you want. I plan to have a track use the universal matrix by default and then use a midi controler to change to custom matrixs for other patches when I need them.

Yes, of course; I should have mentioned this. As a matter of interest, can Logic use VSTi if you desire?

I'm not in front of my Logic System but from memory I think it's only AU's.

I remember purchasing a VST to AU convertor to enable me to use my old VST instruments in Logic. This happened when Logic went to Mac OSX. Running Logic in OS 9 (I think 6.4.3 was the last version for OS9) VST was the format for plug-ins.

Nowadays when you install new AU plug-ins they have to pass Macs AU validation "Thought police" before you are allowed to use them - and the funny thing is it's not been unknown for some of Logic's own plugs to fail this validation test!! Let's hope VSL's VI's have their identity cards....

Thanks for all the above answers. I guess my earlier request for a "real-life" video on how to create an actual piece of music with VI would clarify and answer this and related questions. There seemed to be other responders that also thought the video would be a good idea, so let's hope! Since I'll be starting from scratch, I'm trying to make a list of only what I will need in order to use VI. I don't want to (can't) end up buying any software/hardware I don't need, or would never really use. With my limited resources, that would scuttle the whole plan! I'm sure there are other potential new-users going through the same dilemma. VSL should have a more comprehensive and complete list of these minimum software/hardware requirments. Thanks again.

Well, that's not possible as the Logic plugs are integrated into Logic…you don't see them appear in the AU test.

The well documented Logic plug-in that failed the validation test was the ET1 plug-in.
Granted it is now called tuner in Logic 7 but it still failed the test. Still shows as failed in my Au Manager!
