  • VI and Multiple Drives

    Hi

I've a quick question on using the VIs across multiple drives.

If I install the whole SC VI over say two 300GB drives how does the VI locate the samples/VI data files?

E.g. I install all the Strings on one and the brass on the other. Will the VI VST know and remember this?

Will I have to "search" for the files each time I load up the VI VST? Or, are the VST VIs unique? E.g. the Strigs VST is actually different from the Brass VST.

    TIA

    Tim

  • Hi Tim,

Vienna Instruments includes a Directory Manager with which you can make folders "visible" to the sample player. This also makes it possible to restrict the loading/scanning time because you only activate the folders of the instruments you're using in your composition.

The Directory Manager remembers the last session, and hopefully it will also be able to save settings in the future.

So, you can put your data on different hard drives. You can also move a Collection to a different location, just open the path for VI.
