The consensus is not clear regarding the Xtraction of the compressed files. I was advised by Paul(mod) and others to use UnRarX, it did not extract most of the content. when I tried it with stuffit it worked perfectly well. So my concern is that how can the VSL people recommend something that goes against the discs manufactures recommendations? On the discs it clearly says to use STUFFIT. Anyway, it's not to fuss over this but just thought I'd mention it, and at least this proves that VSL is human after all... [[;)]]

Xtraction. Who's saying the truth?

to go into details .... when the pro edition has been released it has been tested with the current version of stuffit (6.0.1 and 6.5.1). at this time also UnRarX has not been available resp. has been beta and only for osX (at that time most users had still os9 on their macs)
later it turned up that newer stuffit versions had problems unstuffing the RAR archives (a format error was reported) - especially all versions x.0 are real troublemakers and you should update them as soon as possible.
to be honest: we had also with 6.5.1 some troubles, but after changing some foldernames everithing worked (a strange effect, isn't it?)
after panther hit the stage a new issue came along: file permissions. it often happened that a software installation left the system with corrupted permission settings and you had to run the disk utility (repair permissions) to get everything working again (this applied even to logic itself).
i feel that this is where to find your problem ....
usually UnRarX is faster and more reliable, if stuffit works better in your case this is unusual but good to hear it worked at least.
just to mention: we provided a detailed erroreport including several examples to aladdin systems (because our archives are definately ok and stuffit claims to be compatible with rar-archives), but we never received a feedback or solution ...

therw is a little chance, that UnRarX has problems with the quad (dual coer processors) - i'll ask the developers and let you know.
although, to be honest, this would take me wonder ...
did you check your filepermissions (just do a verfy first)?
