  • A question of bounce

Looking again through the videos (as one does), a thought has occured to me.

As a recent user of the bounce function in Logic, i recently finished a film track of approx 89MB. (Stereo Broadcast wave interleaved at the customers request.)

What i don't know is if the bounce included all samples loaded in EXS's at the time of bounce or only 'bounced' those samples being used directly. If the' take all' loaded samples is the method logic uses, does this mean that 'romtimising' will in effect reduce the size of files being bounced?

Have i understood the process correctly, or proved beyond doubt that i'm a technological idiot? I'm on a learning curve so steep, Sir Edmund Hillary would find it a challenge.

    Regards,

    Alex.

  • Hi Alex,

Bouncing in Logic means that everything routed to a given Audio output is rendered into an Audio file, comparable to a mixdown to an external tape machine.

Minimizing the amount of loaded samples has therefore no effect whatsoever on the size of the file you will get. A stereo file in 44,1/16 Bit which is 08´45 long will have appr. 89 MB, no matter how many samples you have loaded into RAM.

    Best, Marnix

  • Thanks Marnix.

    Now I know.

    Alex.
