  • Did I mess up?

With the summer promotions and the lust for owning great libraries, I went ahead and purchased the Horizon's Solo Strings and French Oboe.

Problem is : I didn't check first and made sure that one can use the performance tool from a slave computer using FX Teleport.

Can someone familiar with this setup (I am using Kontakt2 and FX Teleport on a slave computer) please reassure me or is it that I spent monet on libraries that I will not be able to use with this setup?

    Thanks!

I'm sure that it is possible with Kontakt2, but as yet I haven't integrated it into my system as it is such a flaky program. Certainly GS + PT works via FX Teleport, so I don't see any reason why K2 shouldn't.

  • I don't have FX Teleport. I do have MidiOverLan however, which is similar in function. But to properly explain, it is important that you understand how the performance tool works.

In your exisiting midi routing chain you have the sequencer sending midi data out through FX Teleport, dirctly into Kontact 2. In that existing chain, the performance tool needs to be placed between FX Teleport Midi out and Kontact 2 Midi in. This is how it is done (for a gigastudio setup):

    1. Choose ports in your sequencer that route to the FX teleport that you want your Performance tool Ports to be on. For Example:

[list:f2aebff0cf]Sequencer 'X' midi out port 1 through FX Teleport out 1 will be set aside for Performance Tool in Port 1.

Sequencer 'X' out port 2 through FX Teleport out 2 will be set aside for Performance Tool in Port 2, etc.[/list:u:f2aebff0cf]

    2. Open the Performance Tool, and set the MIDI INPORT to FX Teleport 1.

    3. Still in the Performance Tool set the MIDI OUTPORT and set it to a midi in port of your sequencer.

Test to see if midi isbeing routed from FX teleport through the performance tool, into your sequencer by playing a few notes. Hopefully it will work!

Then searrch this forum for some tutorials on how to use the Performance Tool. Here is a good one for repetitions:

    I hope this helps.[/list]

  • Inteleky,

    thank you for your help.
Did you install the Performance Tool on your master or your slave computer?

    DG,
    Kontakt 2 flaky?

  • I have a hard time believing that I am the only Kontakt/FX Teleport user here.

I'd love to hear from someone that uses the same setup and that can confirm that the performance tool works fine in this configuration...

I'll retract that statement when I find out how to remove it from the VST instrument rack without causing Nuendo to close and then a BSOD. At the moment I will uninstall K2 at the first possible moment and bin it [:(]

No problem [:)] The Performace tool needs to go on the computer where your VSL library and your sampler are. So I guess in this case it is your slave.
