    Hi,

    I want to purchase the Complete Orchestral Package, it's a lot of money in Canadian dollars, so I'll ask this silly question just in case: Can this be leased? I imagine not, but you never know.

    All software is leased by its very nature, however, the VSL lease is a one off payment, so to all intents and purposes I would imagine the answer to your question is no, as how could they stop you using it when your lease runs out?

    Hi,
    most Banks offer such a service for software products. If you are a legal entity, they will buy the software and lease it back to you for a monthly fee.
    To make sense of a lease, you need to be a company: It is monthly cost for you (i.e. tax deductable instead of asset activation) and at the end of the lease, you have to return the software to the bank. The lease is calculated by the bank with a risk factor, i.e. the reseller-value of the software. If reselling is not allowed (Like VSL) they will calculate a full charge-back over time plus interest and markup. You are better off when you use a credit card. It is a business with a lot of "fine print issues".
    I've made it various times for office software, but the hassle is only worth it if contract value exeeds 10.000 EUR.

    Unfortunately this probably isn't possible with the current VSL licence conditions, but I'm sure that someone official will chime in here.

    Thank you Holgmeister and DG for your explanations. We are not offering this possibility, and a leasing contract with a financial institution requires a transfer of ownership to the latter which is not possible according to our License Agreement. The legitimate user can use the licensed sounds in his or her production, but the sounds always remain the property of the Vienna Symphonic Library.
