  • configuration for mir

i want to buy a computor to use specially vsl product

    i have a g4 400 with a accelerated card to 1,25.
i can't use this computor with an orchestral configuration and space designer or other plug because the cpu is full but if i use just logic 7 and the sound, it is ok

so, my question is :" i can't buy 2 computor but if i use my g4 and a other one, is it ok if my g4 just read the sound and the other use MIR ?

And in this case, should i buy a g5 2,7 dual or a PC

And should i have 2 logic pro 7 or one is enough ?

    Thank so much [:D]

Firstly there is no MIR available yet and I wouldn't plan in buying anything for it until there is. Secondly from what I understand, you should think of it in the same way as any other hardware reverb unit; it doesn't matter what platform it is on, as it is a stand alone. Therefore whatever you need to buy to make your set-up work I would suggest ignoring MIR in your calculations.

  • Thierry, I think your questions are mostly answered in this recent thread:

  • What DG says!

VSL is unlikely to produce something that's total crap, but why fret over a product sight unseen that you know absolutely nothing about? What if it turns out to cost way more than you can justify spending, for example? Or maybe it won't fit your way of working. Or or it'll seem very nice but not something you need.

I certainly don't mean to foul the aura VSL quite justifiably enjoys, and I'm sure MIR will be as outstanding as all their other efforts. But I just don't see the sense in planning computer purchases around it at this stage.
