  • before I upset too many people....

Is this the best place to air compliments, gripes about VSL?

I am a forum member on a number of different websites, and i notice a different trend on all of them. I am happy to say that this forum is excellent, and potentially not without some spirited debate. Other forums give me little chance to get involved on a being-able-to-help-out basis, where as this one, i feel, in time, I will be grateful for the chance to offer positive words and hopefully exchange useful information with fellow musos and VSL users.

My first question was born out of a need to iron out kinks in my early experimentation with VSL opus 1/2. I am not made of money, and could scarcely afford this bundle, but am delighted to be part of the growing family of enlightened sample library users worldwide, and have already experienced much excitement at hearing the sounds I now have sitting on my hard drive.

There does seem to be a large number of good thinking people here. I look forward to interacting with you all.

    Cheers

  • I think at times you could be positive, and other times you could be negative, but most important you should speak your mind...

...just being cute with your signature.

Seriously though, as a developer I realise the importance of customer feedback. And I'm sure everyone at VSL can handle consctructive critisism just fine. It helps any developer grow knowing what works for their customers and what doesn't.

I wouldn't hesitate to voice concerns, compliments, complaints, etc so long as they are always handled professionally, honestly and as diplomatic as possible as I believe you did in your thread.

But I am only speaking for myself.

  • Fire away. If your remarks (complaints etc.) are honest and well informed you can say whatever you like here is my experiance. If someone takes offense you really can't blame VSL because it's a very open forum. If VSL takes offense (extremely rare!) than it might be do to the tone of remarks or running down their product without real cause on their website.

Here's a problem you will find: VSL's product is so exceptional and cutting edge that people come to expect the miraculous every which way. They're basically doing the impossible as a matter of course and all of us are asking for more impossible things daily. They're doing it! But we're all learning to be more patient.

They listen very well and are the least salesmen-like group on line. They are more like artists then hucksters. That's why people like me write posts like this. 95% of my sounds are from their library.

  • exceptional, cutting edge, miraculous....all words that I would also use for VSL. Happy to be on board and in an environment where open discussion is healthy.
