  • VEPro 7 server Ethernet question

I’m trying to eliminate the intense pops and clicks when using VEPro 7 server to connect my MacPro(2019) to my Windows 10 PC sample server.

Im connecting directly with a CAT6 cable.

My PC has a choice of two ethernet ports:

    Realtek Ethernet (2.5GbE) Controller
    Intel Ethernet (1.0GbE) Controller

Which is best for VEPro 7 ?

I would also like to learn more about VEP 7 and ethernet networks. Thanks for brining this up.

  • VE Pro requires gigabit ethernet. It is very unlikely that a gigabit ethernet line would be the bottle neck, causing those pops and clicks. It's quite unlikely that upgrading to 2.5 GBit would change much there.

  • re. pops and clicks...

I've had several Network Technicians and engineers look at my system. Based on their tests, there's no issues with the network between my MacPro and PC on VEPro 7. Further testing on both computer's CPU and SSD (speed and throughput) have not shown any problems either. All test show no issues.

    Here's where it get's interesting...

All my newly created VEPro 7 instances (MacPro to PC server) have high occurrences of pops and clicks (Logic Pro sessions and Pro Tools Session...all VIs)

But...If I open a particular VEPro7 project from several months ago...This session has no pops and clicks!

Nothing is different in this project (software, buffer settings, instance count or, anything) from my current set up or settings.

I wish I could figure this out.

Andreas, do you have any guesses of suggestions?

I'd be grateful for your help.
