  • [SOLVED] Reason 13 will only work with VST2 Synchron (VST3 gives "could not load..." error)

    Hello,

I don't know if this is a Reason 13 problem or a Vienna problem, maybe both. First, on my system everything everywhere is updated to the hilt - chipset drivers, BIOS, firmware, audio drivers, OS, Reason, VSL, etc. The latest Synchron Player is a little bit quirky in the version department - the Release Notes gives a last updated date of "v 1.3.1865 - November 25th, 2024", but the installed VST files all have file dates of 11/22/2024. So I guess they went a few days in the future to update next version's files.

Anyway, the issue is that when I'm using VST3 Synchron Player in Reason (or in Nektarine in Reason), it won't load any instruments - always a "Could not load..." error. However, the stand-alone Synchron Player works just fine (pretty sure that's VST3). When I use VST2 Synchron Player in Reason then it works fine. I guess this is probably fine for most of the stuff I'll be doing, but I'd like to know that if I want to get nuts and create lots of tracks and use all kinds of features that are only available in VST3 at least I'll have the option to do so. Plus I think they say that 3 is generally more efficient.

I do not know if they worked before Reason 13 because I haven't been using my stuff for a long time. Finally got back into things, updated everything, got through a lot of annoying things with Nektarine and my Nektar P6 Panorama controller. Everything is nearly working perfectly and then I get to this and I'm like - "Ugh not another bug/quirk to work through."

I'm not too keen on removing Reason 13 and reinstalling 12 to find out if it works in 12. Hoping someone at VSL sees this and has some advice, or let me know that a fix is already coming.

    Thanks, David

  • Well, I guess it fixed itself. I haven't changed anything between the time I posted this (haven't even rebooted) and now but suddenly VST3 Synchron works fine in Reason 13. Gotta love tech. Grr.
