  • Synchron vs. studio

I have another question on Synchron vs. Studio. I don't mean the starter editions of Studio, but the "big" ones. What is the difference between Synchron and Studio? Synchron was recorded in the special Synchron stage, but are there other differences, e.g. between Synchron Brass vs. Studio Brass and Synchron Woodwinds vs. Studio Woodwinds?

I already received many helpful posts here, but I am not sure what to get..and I am someone who does not like mixing things.

    So far I have:

    1) VSL Synchron-ized Special Edition Vol. 1 & Vol. 1 Plus and VSL Synchron-ized Special Edition Vol. 2 & Vol. 2 Plus ... bought the old versions in 2017, then bought the upgrades to Synchron-ized...now both are Studio now, but Starter Studio and NOT the regular "big" Studio versions, correct? Buying them was obsolete now because I did not use them (just started making music again) and...

    2) bought Synchron Strings Pro now, then
    3) Synchron Solo Violin and Solo Cello
    4) and I am going to buy Synchron Bass

What about woodwinds or percussions? Synchron vs. Studio? And "my" Starter Studio Editions are NOT the big woodwind and percussion of the Studio line, correct?

I am a bit lost what to buy and what not. It should be the same line and style.

I have SY Brass and Studio Dimension Brass and use both in my template. Main reason I bought Dimension Brass is that it has muted samples but I also use it for Horn 3 and 4, Trumpet 3 and Trombone 2, 3 and if needed 4. SY Brass has no muted samples and only two horns and trumpets and one trombone. Alternatively you can of course load multiple instances of SY Brass instruments.

Disadvantage is that the Studio libraries only have stereo whereas SY full version has a full set of microphones to create spacial audio.

I always understood that VSL is supposed to have done the volume balancing between instruments and libraries using CC7 but Dim Brass (most CC7 set to 90%) seems a lot quieter than the standard presets in SY Brass
