  • I had some problems navigating the site. There are so many libraries that I was confused. When you click "Synchron" -> "Synchron-ized package", you do not see any Synchron-ized Special Edition there. Clicking the VI section did not work either. The Synchron-ized Special Edition is only listed in the starter section.

When I finally found them, I only saw the full price although I was logged in. I had to add something to my basket to see all current deals for me.

This is what I have in my basket:

Synchron Strings Pro sound awesome: https://www.vsl.co.at/de/Synchron_Strings_Bundle/Synchron_Strings_Pro

445€ is something I could afford.

What is the difference between Synchron Strings Pro and the upgrades in my basket? Will I have the same articulations and playability as with the Synchron Strings Pro? Or what is the Synchron-ized equivalent of the Synchron Strings Pro? Can you both play the same articulations in the Synchron player with my upgraded versions in the basket and the Synchron Strings Pro, and the only difference is that Synchron Strings Pro feature newer recordings?

The bottom line of my questions is if I should get the upgrades in my basket OR just Synchron Strings Pro? Strings are my focus...I don't necessarily need upgraded woodwind, brass etc.

  • PS Here's Synchron Strings Pro...with controllable vibrato. Will I have it in the synchronized special edition? Or what do I have to buy to have this kind of vibratos? Or is it only in Synchron Strings Pro?

  • Vibrato control is not included in Special Editions.

While the large VI and SYNCHRON-ized libraries have those, if you like the sound of Synchron Strings Pro go for it instead. I would still recommend upgrading the Special Editions to the SYNCHRON-ized Special Editions, this way you will have them pre-mixed out-of-the-box in a Synchron compatible way, and you can directly use them together with Synchron Strings Pro.

  • Thank you!

What is the cheapest way to get that Vibrator control? Which large VI or synchronized libraries have such strings?

  • All VI Strings Strings (Solo, Chamber, Orchestral, a bit limited Appassionata).

All SYNCHRON-ized Strings (Solo, Chamber Orchestral, Appassionata).

All Synchron Strings (Strings Pro, Solo Strings, Duality Strings, and with some limitations the Strings in Big Bang Orchestra).

In short: Only Special Editions and Prime Edition do not come with multiple vibrato variations.

  • I bought the synchron-ized special editions 1, 1+, 2 and 2+. The Vienna Assistent lets me download them and also the synchron player, but does not know I already have the old VI Special Editions on my SSD.

Do I need to downlad and install the entire about 120 GB? Is it a completely new installation? Should I delete the old library after installing the synchron-ized version (unless I want to play the old samples in Vienna Instruments Pro)?

Because having both special edition and synchron-ized special edition on my SSD would need 190 GB...and I don't have much space left on my SSD.

  • It does not let me add my VI special editions. "No VSL data found". I have to download the entire special editions again although it is already on my SSD and then the synchron-ized special editions.

It even lists the correct folder when I click on the special edition, but still no library appears in the "installed" section. When I click on "add existing library" and select the folder that contains all the special edition folders, I get an error.

  • Now an ilok folder appeared...I added it and vol. 1 was added to my installed products...however, vol. 2 is still missing.

I think it is best to delete the entire VSL folder and download the whole 190 GB again.

Yes, these are completely new data, you need to re-download them.

I guess you are still using the eLicenser version of the VI Special Editions? These are not compatible with the latest players and Vienna Assistant. You should delete the old content and if you need project compatibility download the iLok variant from teh Assistant instead.

  • I have an USB stick with data...a hardware iLok. Some of my licenses could be moved to my online account, but not all of them. These are mine:

I am downloading everything again. Vol 1 and Vol 2 of the old special editions were completed, but clicking on "Install" starts the download again although the data is on my HDD (unless the progress bar is shown for the installation too).

  • Just for clarification: eLicenser and iLo kdata are incompatible, every library has to be re-downloaded for iLok. If you have isntallation data from pre-iLok times they will not work. If they are already iLok isntallation from these will still take some time and a progress bar will appear validating the data and installing them after that.

  • Thanks. I bought the special editions in 2017 and 2018 and moved all licenses to the online account, but some remained on the hardware ilok.

  • It's not important where the license is stored, as long as the USB key is connected / the Cloud is opened on your system.

  • I finished installing special edition VI, synchron player, vienna instruments pro etc. ...
    Downloading synchron-ized special edition now.

Installing synchron player, vienna instruments pro and synchron piano did not display any window where I want to install it nor were there shortcuts created.

I created them myself (desktop shortcuts). Is this supposed to be like that?

  • While I am downloading the synchron-ized special editions, I am wondering what to get next.

Synchron Strings Pro: 445€, 122 GB
Synchron Strings I: 445€, 266 GB Why so much more than Strings Pro?
    Synchron-ized solo strings: 395€ (65 GB)
    Synchron-ized chamber strings: 224€ (27 GB)

The prices are based on what I already own.

All of them have controllable vibrato, correct? What should I get? What is the difference?

  • PS Is there a reason to keep the VI special edition files if you have the synchron-ized special edition files unless you want to play them in the Vienna Instruments Pro player?

    No.

Yes. You should get whatever you liek sound wise and what you need. The difference is the ensemble size and if it was recorded in Synchron Stage with ambience or Silent Stage.
And btw, don't get Synchron Strings I, get Synchron Strings Pro instead.

  • Thank you!

It is difficult to know what I need if I don't see the UI in front of me and can play around with the samples.

Does Synchron Strings Pro have the option to turn off the stage/reverb so it sounds like the synchron-ized special edition?
I don't want to use different libraries that do not sound the same...and rather have every instrument without reverb and add it in the DAW later.
