  • Crossgrade Old VI-Series to SYNCHRON-ized Series

    Hi there,

I'm owner of all VI Standard/Extended Libraries. If I crossgrade to SYNCHRON-ized Libraries does the SYNCHRON-ized Libraries also contain both Standard and Extended Libraries or only Standard?

    Thanks,
    Soenke

BTW: I sent an email last week to support@vsl.co.at with the same question. No response. So, does VSL not have any official Support Team anymore? Or probably overwhelmed with other support requests?

  • Hi @Soenke

Just found your support email ticket. Looks like that one accidentally slipped through - sorry about that.

The SYNCHRON-ized Libraries contain the sample content of both Standard & Extended.

    Best,
    Andreas

  • Thanks Andreas - This is good know. However, likely a stupid question, the difference between SYNCHRON vs SYNCHRON-ized Series is then what? Amount of samples (much more in SYNCHRON Series), more mics?

  • In short: Yes.

SYNCHRON-ized features dry stereo samples that come with the sound signature and convolution reverb of Synchron Stage.

Synchron features modern multi-mic recordings and a more film-music-oriented workflow.

You could check out our very recent Strings Overview, which does a good job of explaining and showcasing the differences between series:

We are told that the release of Synchron-ized Brass is in the near-term pipeline. We are also in the last weeks of the VI offerings.

I own VI Brass I, but not Brass II. So I need to figure out if it is advantageous or not for me to buy the VI Brass II now and then, when Synchron-ized Brass is released at an introductory price, the crossgrade from VI will save me even more than what I pay for VI Brass II now.

Hope that's not confusing, but I only ask this since Synchron-ized Brass has not yet been released, there is no way for me to add it to my cart to see what my crossgrade price would be.

    edited to add:

I'm not asking for a future price, just whether the difference in crossgrade price would justify the purchase of the VI product now. I have no interest in the VI product in and of itself.

  • Hi DaddyO,

I've replied to your support ticket already. The instruments included in future SYNCHRON-ized Brass Collections will be organized slightly differently than the current VI Brass Collections. So, if you have actually no need for the VI-collection, you could wait for the release of the ported library.

    Best, Michael

Thanks so much, Michael. I have added a summary of your response to my post about this in the VI Control forum.

Sorry - but i still don't get i really. I have the VI Orchestral Strings I & II Standart and Extended which contains about 45 GB of Samples. I thought, that the Synchronized Orchestral Strings are now a combination of all the "old" Orchestral Strings (I&II Standart and Extended) - but they contain only about 13,3 GB... - what am i missing?

  • They're now able to use a more advanced compression method, so disk space is greatly reduced.
