  • Strange low note after audio export on many instruments

    Hi there,

When I export Audio (wave, every instrument in a single file) sometimes a very low sound appears out of nowhere using the VSL template:

This is purely oboe, you can hear it on the first phrase (during a b flat) but not on the second. I have this sound louder or more piano with other instruments at the same mark as well.

This is not good - any ideas?

Probably you are using the wrong expression map somehow for one or more of your loaded instruments. Expression maps, among other things, contain "key switches" which are special dummy notes outside of an instrument's normal sounding range that are used as triggers to change between articulations, like legato, staccato, etc. When the wrong expression map for that instrument is used, it will try sending the keyswitches, but they may fall within the sounding range of the instrument (since each instrument has a different sounding range and so the keyswitches will usually be in different registers for different instruments to avoid creating a sound). In this case you will hear added phantom notes in the playback, which is Dorico trying to trigger a certain articulation using one of those dummy keyswitches, but because it's the wrong map, it is a real note that actually plays back a sound.

    Hi mducharme!

I assume it's as you said. The expression map I use is the original from the Dorico wizzard...

    But:

If I export more instruments as a whole file the sound don't show up.

These are 2 Flutes and Oboe:

Also when I use play inside dorico these sound don't appear.

Just tried - even when I manually export oboe solo the sound don't appear:

It only appears if I use the function "export every part in a single audio file" from a score.
