  • Synchron Player (Apple Silicon) generates pops/clicks on Digital Performer 11

The title pretty much says it all. Since upgrading my Synchron Player to the AS version (and the subsequent releases), I have had a flurry of pops/clicks when more than five instruments are playing at the same time.

When I reverted back to the last Intel version, problem gone. I have upgraded twice and reverted twice to confirm that indeed the sole culprit is Synchron Player AS. I also tried completely uninstalling Synchron Player before upgrading to ensure that any conflicting files be purged.

NOTE 1: I'm running Digital Performer 11.21 on a Mac Studio Ultra w/ 64GB RAM with samples on a fast SSD (500 MB/s speed according to VSL's tool). Running 20 tracks (with each Instance containing a number of instruments) in Vienna Ensemble Pro (Server) makes my system barely break a sweat.

NOTE: 2: I am currently running Synchron Pianos AS and Mir 3D AS and they are behaving themselves.

  • I have exactly the same issue on M1 MAX with Studio One 6.6. I cannot even play 1 instrument without issues.
The pianos run fine, a single solo cello does not.

As if there is something whacky gong on with things that loop. I can increase the hardware buffer from 64 to 128 and it becomes less, I can increase it more but doesn't matter.

If I open the GUI and show the CPU meter to try and capture the spikes, it runs fine. As if the scheduler is then running the GUI on efficiency and the rest on performance cores.
