  • Is there a "How to mock-up this short composition in VI Pro," video somewhere?

I am new to using a DAW and plug-ins to make music. I really don't know anything about it but have been slowly piecing some meaning together one internet search at a time.

To cover the basics, I have VE 7, Suite Pro, VI Special Editions 1-4, 7, and some voice and choral samples. I am using Pro-Tools Intro on Windows.

Having reviewed the Vienna Instruments video tutorials, I am still struggling to put things into context:

Question 1: Is there a video that depicts a short and simple sample composition and then returns to build that composition from scratch in order to very simply demonstrate how the patches, matrices, and other features were assembled and integrated to create the sample composition? I simply do not understand how to set up the matrices, axes, and so on. I seem to understand that I would have to play a controller with one hand and manipulate patches with the other.

It would help very much to have a short and simple composition presented and then have the instructor return to show how the parts were set-up in VI Pro to make that composition. From there, I could begin to play around and figure more things out.

Is there a very simple video like this somewhere? I cannot seem to find it and my internet searches aren't returning anything like it....

Also, I should go ahead and ask,

Question 2: After installing Ensemble, Suite Pro, and Special Editions on Vienna Assistant, do I need to then download those onto my computer? I was originally having trouble finding Vienna Ensemble and "the instruments" in Pro Tools, but I also did not understand how all of these things fit together. Now, I would not look for them in Pro-Tools, but along the way, I became under the impression that I probably need to download the instruments after installing them. I am now just confused and want to exclude that so I can take any extra downloads off of my computer. 😄

(I am beginning to think that I should simply get Finale or Sibelius, input the "sheet music", and let it play to Vienna Instruments for me, if that's how it would work after sorting out the integration)

    Thanks,

    Nef.

PS, I originally signed up for the Academy courses in 2019 to help me through all of this and with the understanding that they would be available on demand, but by the time I got to them, they were no longer supported, so I am having to learn this in the least desirable way: videos that assume you know things that you don't.

To be sure, it doesn't have to be a composition, per se. It can be a motif or phrase that is given and then used as a build example in the software.
