Yes, solo strings are one of the hardest things to get right. There is to date not a single library that entirely gets it (VSL is possibly the best overall but the tone is often somewhat nasal). So like many, I will be very interested in the completion of this project.
Hello Herb
i am a very long time user of the VI libs, I have bought most of the VI libs and a few Synchr... libs.
We chat a few time many many years ago, it is nice to see you.

I am writing my "Requiem", as the time goes by, so it is a piece that is very slow at tempo 37 and 50 and I use MIR PRO 3D
I have problems with longs notes of Violin and Viola ; they are not played until the end
I was told by support :
For the Solo Strings, Iยดd recommend to hit the note again, preferably with the Sustain pedal held down, thus also creating a bow change, just as a real player would produce in a real recording.
A violin does not have a Sustain pedal !!!!!!๐
If I send the score to an orchestra they are going to have a big laught to see a sustain pedal on the Violins
It is also a hard job because you need to edit each note to do the repetition to define it's length because it depends on how hard the bow is played
Trying Spitfire demo BSO, it does not have the problem, it plays long notes until the end and the loop is VERY good
Sending samples to support.

All I can say is that the VI Solo Strings are not going to be re-edited at this point...
How comme a such VSL library that has been told to be the best Orchestral Library cannot fix this problem
I am VERY disapointed !
I wanted to attach a piece of my Requiem play by VSL using the sustain pedal and played by BSO so you can hear the difference and guess ; but the new editor does not find "MP3" "WAV" or "ZIP" files on Mac
Kind regards
Cyril
Creating sheet music for musicians in a live recording is a very different task from creating a realistic MIDI mockup. ๐

Hello Andreas,
This is not a very constructive answer to my problem
You sould not have to re-edit your piece, either in your Daw or in Dorico

If you use Dorico, you can create a hidden staff below the one designed to be read where you can simply retrigger the legato sample by creating an extra note or entering a sustain pedal if this works (sustain artics. usually do loop -- legato are the problem). You disable the playback in the readable score and what you hear is what you've put in the new hidden staff. It's all in the manual if you're not familar with this procedure.

This is not professionnal it is some "bricollage"* VSL have to work to make loops on Solo instruments
To work on the loops is a hard work and it will not make VSL to earn more money !
They want our โฌ so they prefer to work on new products.

I'd prefer loops myself and the lack of them is indeed annoying at times. But I just wanted to point out a workaround. Likely as not, the new library will either be looped or perhaps simply have longer samples (like the new OT Benjamin Wallfisch strings which are not actually that interesting for me in other respects).
I bought Wallfisch FX Library ... more great Horroreffects! Yeah!
The product that I find interesting is Duality virtuoso. I am happy with VSL Solostrings and Like Flexibility in Stereo Placements.
What I would like to see in the future by VSL is an answer to String Murmurations and Gestures from Crow Hill. This is the hottest trending Library currently. So cool...
Excited about the Synchronized Brass... mainly because one of the french horns has stopped articulations ๐ค . Maybe in the future that can be added as an update to the Synchron Brass French Horns 1 & 2. Or maybe as part of a Muted Synchron Brass library.
Really looking forward to the Duality Virtuoso Strings stuff too!
We never release things on Fridays... ๐
