  • Hi! New here. Why is there no option for exFAT in VA (Or at least an ignore option, like Spitfire)?

Im glad to finally be a part of this amazing composer community—I have important files, presets, samples and libraries in external drives and the format that needs to work with both Mac and Windows seemlessly.

I do work primarily on Mac, but it is not giving me the option to accept exFAT/FAT32 or an ignore button (like Spitfire does for hard drives) to allow me to download my library purchases.

Why is this the case? Should I open a support case for it, or an update is on the way?

This really should be the case.

    Thank you.

  • Hi YungstarProd,

Welcome to the VSL Forum! While exFAT should not be used at all for ANY kind of sample work due to its poor performance handling, The Vienna Assistant no longer allows installation on exFAT because certain features of our Synchron Players are incompatible with exFAT drives. We do not wish to compromise future improvement and development to keep a drive format around that was not officially supported to begin with.

    Best,
    Andreas

  • If you want to ba able to work seamlessly between Windows and Macs then I think your only option is to buy some software that allows use of NTFS formatted drives on a Mac or APFS/HFS+ formatted drive on a Windows machine.

Appreciate you! Would you recommend me some software that can accompany that? Im more than willing to change my setup if my workflow can be better.

I couldn't recommend anything - I have no Windows machines.
